Okutama Mukashi-michi (Okutama Old Road)

The Okutama Old Road traces part of the historic Ōme Kaidō, stretching from Ogōchi to Hikawa. Once a vital trade route during the Meiji period (1868–1912), it still carries echoes of daily life over a century ago. Mossy stone walls, rustic farmhouses, and streams along the way invite walkers into a world where history and nature intertwine. Birdsongs and seasonal scenery create a quiet yet enriching hike—a quintessential Okutama experience just outside the city.
